An Outdoor Fall Wedding.

Friday, October 1st, 2010

Some of you may think I am a little crazy for suggesting an outdoor wedding in the fall, especially in Wisconsin, but early in the season could be perfect. Sure, the weather is a little bit unpredictable and can get a little chilly but isn’t it worth it to be able to surround yourself with those beautiful changing leaves? I would say so.

The inspiration board below actually features an image from a real wedding that I found on the 100 layer cake blog (a blog I am obsessed with!) and I absolutely adore the ceremony set-up. How perfect.

An Outdoor Wedding :: Creating a Plan B.

Wednesday, September 8th, 2010

I was recently interviewed by a local wedding magazine to discuss my best advice for planning an outdoor wedding. While I don’t want to disclose too much of what we discussed, since the interview won’t be published until Spring 2011, I do want to share my best piece of advice if you’re planning an outdoor affair.

I’ve written many times about outdoor weddings before but I’ve never touched on the topic of having a Plan B in case of inclement weather. I know that discussing Plan B can seem like a jinx but waiting until the last minute to decide on a plan isn’t the best approach either.

My advice is simple. When choosing a venue or outdoor space make sure that there is a Plan B option that you truly love! Not just a space that will do if a rains but a space that you are excited to get the opportunity to use and a space that you aren’t going to feel one ounce of of disappointment if it’s needed on your wedding day. Often times brides choose a Plan B that they can accept but aren’t thrilled with and when it is needed it puts a total damper on the day.

This advice may make your venue search seem more complicated but I promise you’ll be happier with the end result!
