Our Wedding Day :: Bloopers.

Wednesday, October 6th, 2010

Today, I continue to embrace Anniversary Season by discussing some bloopers…

It doesn’t matter if you’ve attended a million weddings in your day or you work in the wedding industry, wedding day “bloopers” are inevitable. As you’ve heard a million times before, no wedding is perfect, and today I stand behind that statement.  There were definitely no disasters on our wedding day but a few moments I either laugh really hard at or am still surprised they even happened.

Our funniest blooper moment was during our grand entrance. I was adamant about having a wrist loop for my dress. I loved my dress and the detail on the train so I didn’t want to have to bustle it immediately after the ceremony. Anyway, I was so pleased with my loop until it became my worst enemy during our grand entrance. Style was holding the same hand that the loop was attached to and as our names were announced he raised our hands into the air, which caused my dress to trip me. Luckily it wasn’t a full blown fall-on-my-face trip, but I am sure guests noticed. It makes me laugh thinking about it now.

My next blooper moment is forgetting to do anything with my finger nails. It may sound petty to some but I was standing in the kitchen of Stylist’s farm house having my nails painted minutes before our first look. See for yourself. And, yes, Monica’s expression proves she too can’t believe I forgot a manicure!

You all know how much I hate ugly hangers, right? Well, I was one of those brides who completely overlooked the hardware that her beautiful dress would be displayed on. Luckily, our photographer is a rockstar and had one I could borrow.

Do you have a wedding day blooper of your own you’d like to share? Leave a comment!

It’s Anniversary Season!

Tuesday, October 5th, 2010

I can’t believe it but in 4 short days, Stylist and I will celebrate our first wedding anniversary. For those of you readers who don’t know me personally, I must admit that every significant event in my life is surrounded by a season. In the past, the biggest season was Birthday Season. But now, thanks to my recent marriage and a dear friend who introduced me to how awesome anniversary season can be, I have one more thing to celebrate.

This week I won’t bore you with the mushy details from our wedding day or how wonderful this past year has been (I could go on and on) instead I will share with you details like blooper moments, 1st anniversary gift ideas, and my advice for a happy marriage.

And, since every post is better with pictures, here are two of my favorites from our wedding day.

And, if you’d like to read about the planning process leading up to this amazing day you can do so here, on Bespoke.

Wedding Day Snapshots :: Jeni & Jay!

Monday, October 4th, 2010

I don’t typically share City Bride real weddings with readers (I leave that to the photographers) but this wedding was just too much fun.

Jeni and Jay worked very hard to ensure that their wedding day was as much of an experience for their guests as it was a celebration. Their wedding was hosted at The Milwaukee Public Museum, the perfect venue for creating a guest experience. Not only could guests explore many of the museum exhibits they could also enjoy the beauty of the indoor butterfly garden. The day was planned beautifully and the following images were captured from my iphone while I was managing the day.

As I have mentioned many times before, the cake (or dessert) is one of my favorite parts of a wedding day. Thanks to The Cake Lady this wedding was no different.

Here is the a little peek at the beautiful butterfly garden the museum is home to.

Here, a few wedding crashers.

Lastly, proof that my team and I can work in almost any environment.

Jeni and Jay- it was a pleasure to work with you and I wish you many happy years together!!

An Outdoor Fall Wedding.

Friday, October 1st, 2010

Some of you may think I am a little crazy for suggesting an outdoor wedding in the fall, especially in Wisconsin, but early in the season could be perfect. Sure, the weather is a little bit unpredictable and can get a little chilly but isn’t it worth it to be able to surround yourself with those beautiful changing leaves? I would say so.

The inspiration board below actually features an image from a real wedding that I found on the 100 layer cake blog (a blog I am obsessed with!) and I absolutely adore the ceremony set-up. How perfect.

A Rustic Fall Wedding.

Thursday, September 30th, 2010

While I love the traditional fall wedding that I spoke of yesterday, I swoon over all things rustic. Especially in the fall.

My love for a rustic wedding is better shown through the inspiration board below rather than an explanation.

Rustic Fall Wedding

A Traditional Fall Wedding.

Wednesday, September 29th, 2010

As I mentioned yesterday, this week is dedicated to the fall wedding craze, and I am starting off with the traditional fall wedding.

I feel that in recent years, traditional weddings in general are getting a bad rap. So many brides want their wedding to be anything but traditional and I don’t understand why. To me, there is a beauty in keeping elements simple and embracing a style that is timeless. See for yourself.

P.S. From the tech side of things, I am not that skilled at creating inspiration boards (as I am sure you guessed since I hardly ever post them) but I must say, using Style Me Pretty’s Style Circle made the process much more enjoyable!

Introducing :: Fall Wedding Week.

Tuesday, September 28th, 2010

It seems that October may be the new June with the recent popularity of fall weddings. There is something about the changing and falling leaves, crisp air, and smell of apple cider that completely entices a bride and groom to plan their wedding during the season. I admit, I am one that is absolutely smitten with fall. {more on my wedding next week as we approach anniversary season!}

There are so many themes that a fall wedding can take on. It doesn’t necessarily need to be designed around rustic elements or utilize eggplant, brown, and orange colors.  It can be whimsical, romantic, casual or even edgy. And, that is the point of this little mini series, to show everyone a few different looks a fall wedding could take on.

Come back the rest of this week as I share my favorite fall inspirations.
